Meet the team

Culture on Fire is an initiative aimed at transforming cultural norms within the fire service and other uniformed public services. It focuses on promoting equity, fostering inclusive environments, and addressing cultural challenges. The initiative is led by a diverse group of individuals from various backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to inclusivity and equity. The movement seeks to connect people, examine systems, promote discussion and learning and build practicable tools to support meaningful change.

Jan brings years fire service experience and leadership skills.

“I am Leanne Allen, a Senior Firefighter with operational experience both in Canada and Aotearoa New Zealand. I am Indigenous to Canada (Secwepemc Nation) and a mother of one son. I am a Workplace Inclusion Practitioner through Diversity Works, and I advocate for equity within the fire and emergency sector, with a focus on transforming workplace culture in male-dominated environments. I bring frontline insight and intersectional experience to my work, grounded in social justice activism, Indigenous and Te Ao Māori perspectives, with a deep commitment to and optimism for organizational change. My current research focuses on physical employment standards.”
